COVID-19 has definitely shaken the world. While most of us are mandated to stay at home, others are going out to help the patients. Truth be told, they are doing the heavy lifting. But we can do our part as well. We can support them in different ways. And this is what this post is all about.
Who are the frontliners?
This is a partial list of people who might need more of our help.
- Police officers
- Military
- Volunteers
- Doctors
- Nurses
- Hospital staff
- Screening representatives
- Sanitation workers
- Researchers
- Cleaners
Ways to support our frontliners
Do you think you can’t do anything just because we are all staying at home? You thought wrong. We have to thank the power of the internet and technology because it makes helping our frontliners so much easier now. Ideas are lifted from the actual help that we’ve observed in the past days.
Cash donations
Cash donations are easy to do. We still have our online banks up and running, and there are organizations that provided their bank account numbers. These cash donations will be allotted for different items including food and PPEs.
Care packages
Other volunteers created care packages for our frontliners. These bags contain vitamins, coffee, power bars, energy drinks, snacks, hand sanitizer, hand soap, tissue, eco-bags. And to make it even more special, they included notes from different people showing their appreciation and support.
Homemade masks/face shields
We’ve also seen a number of civilians working on homemade masks and face shields. It’s really a collaborative project from different individuals who pitched in for the materials. It’s really amazing how people unite to support and save our frontliners.
Food donations
Even small restaurant owners are doing what they can to support our modern-day heroes. Despite not having a source of steady income, they chose to use their resources to prepare food for our frontliners. This can be seen in different parts of the globe and it is truly remarkable.
Shelter
Unfortunately, some of our frontliners lost their homes because their landlords were too afraid that they will carry the virus. There are now different institutions and even religious places where the leaders opened the doors for our frontliners. These will serve as temporary shelters during the crisis.
Concert/Art for a cause
Right now, a number of celebrities and artists are doing online concerts to raise funds for PPEs and other essential items that can help the frontliners. Others are providing artworks. There are a lot of creative things you can do that will help you raise funds.
Free consultation online
Other medical practitioners have opened their own online consultation sessions so that people can freely ask questions, without the need to travel outside. As we all know, our hospitals and medical institutions are overloaded.
Free transportation
And since public transportation is extremely limited, there are people who offered to transport our frontliners from their homes to the hospitals. This is a big help as we’ve heard nurses walking hours just to go to work. It’s the least we can do to ease their burden.
We’re pretty sure you can think of more ideas on how you can help our frontliners. Feel free to share, and let’s fight this battle, the best way we can.
