Your underarms deserve proper treatment too! You read that right. Your armpits should be treated the same way we treat our face. It’s not enough that you shower, or you shave, or you apply deodorant. It takes more than that to show your love for your armpits and we are here to tell you the ways how to do it.
Taking care of your underarms
Regularly take a shower
Remember that your skin is the largest organ in your body – your underarm is obviously included. Hence, it is also more exposed to germs that can cause not just body odor, but also infection. That is why you have to make it a habit to take a bath (even if it is freezing cold)! After all, you can always use warm water.
Only wear fresh and clean clothes
We’re pretty sure you want to smell fresh all day, right? One way to achieve that is to always wear clean clothes. Some of us re-use our wardrobe thinking that it isn’t dirty enough to go to the laundry. But that’s not the case. You might not see it but the bacteria is already ‘growing’ there.
In addition, choose clothes with natural fibers. Instead of wearing nylon, go for the cotton ones. This will allow your sweat to evaporate faster and your skin to breathe.
Lastly, make sure to wash your clothes as frequently as you can. Do not wait for weeks before you wash it.
Use a deodorant that has baking soda
If you want to smell fresh all day, you might want to choose a deodorant that has baking soda. In fact, other people use baking soda on its own. All you have to do is mix it with water, make a paste, and apply onto your underarms. Either way, you are sure to block any bad odor.
Use a clean and fresh blade when you shave
When you are about to shave, it is important that you check your blade. Is it clean? Is it fresh? Is it sharp enough? If you are to use a blade which is not thoroughly clean and sharp, it can cause irritation and infection. And believe it or not, it can be too darn painful. Similarly, use shaving cream so that the blade with cut smoothly. Applying a thin layer should be enough.
Be conscious of what you eat
If you must know, there are foods that can contribute to your body’s odor. Examples are curry, onions, and garlic. We are not saying to stop eating these foods. After all, it makes any meal extra delicious. Just moderate your consumption and you are all good. You can also try to eat more parsley being it a natural deodorizer.
Go natural when whitening
There are different reasons why our underarms darken. And while there are a lot of artificial products claiming that it can lighten your skin, the best way is to go natural. It is effective and affordable too! Here are the things you will need:
- raw honey
- lemon juice
Mix these three together, apply for 15 minutes before washing your underarm.
Please note that if you experience more serious conditions on your armpits, do not self-medicate and immediately consult a doctor.
