Well Being April 2, 2019 Barbara 0

Breakups are almost always hard. It is physically and emotionally damaging. But at the end of the day, you will have to pick yourself up and get better. Sooner or later you will realize that you need to love yourself more. Now, speaking of love, how can you take care of yourself after a bad breakup? Our tips are not rocket-science but it is always good to be reminded about the basics.
How to love yourself after a breakup?
Start eating healthy
We understand that some people resort to junk foods after a breakup. However, you are just making yourself suffer. Plus, think of the long-term effects of not eating healthy. When you eat good food, you will essentially feel better. So if you plan to get drunk and eat potato chips in front of your TV, might as well bake some kale and kill time with something even more productive.
Stay active
When we exercise, we naturally release happy hormones. We suggest that you visit the gym so you can meet new friends. Perhaps, join running activities for a cause. This shall spark new interest and you are definitely getting in shape.
Do things you are passionate about
When you are passionate about something, it gives you that amazing feeling. It makes you happy. Now, if you want to paint, or to surf, write poems, watch a lot of movies, do it. You deserve to feel good again and one of the ways is to do the things you love the most.
Or if you want, you can discover new things. Enroll yourself in a cooking class or a dance class. Improve yourself and be your higher version.
Have the right sleeping habit
It’s really hard to fall asleep after a breakup because you tend to ask a lot of questions. But if you can already, try to have a better sleeping habit. You can also meditate and listen to soothing sounds to help you relax. When you have enough sleep, you become less grumpy.
Cut your communication
This is hard but necessary. It’s not going to help if you keep on reaching out for someone who’s already a part of your past. Why don’t you reconnect with your happy self instead? That’s even better!
Talk to your loved ones
You don’t have to face it alone. Your families and friends are there to listen. Venting out can help you release bad emotions. However, if you think it’s already taking a toll on your health, it is best to seek professional help.
Let it go and forgive
No matter how hard it is, know that your breakup is for a better purpose. You will only hurt yourself if you hold on to that anger. Forgive and just visualize a better future.
Again, we understand how devastating heartbreaks are. But you have to lift yourself up and realize that there are more important things than your failed romantic relationship. You have your families and friends who genuinely love you and will never leave you – no matter what. Help yourself and soon enough you will realize that you don’t need to be in a relationship – just yet!
