Are you one of those people who suffer from chronic back pain? About 80% of adults suffer from some form of back pains at some point in their lives. Back pains are also known to be one of the job-related disability. Having back pains can make you uncomfortable, and can also prevent you from doing certain activities. Although back pain may be painful and uncomfortable, it is usually not serious.

But it is still annoying knowing that you cannot perform some activities due to back pains.

There are many factors that cause back pains. Expert says that back pain is associated with the way our bones, muscles, and ligaments in our back works and connect together.

Inflammation is a known cause of back pain and many foods have been shown to reduce inflammation. However, there are also some foods that can increase inflammation, causing you to have back pains.

“Left unchecked, inflammation will run rampant through your body, causing all kinds of problems, including low-back pain,” says Michael Perry, MD, chief medical director and co-founder of Laser Spine Institute.

Today we will be talking about what you should eat and what you should not eat when it comes to back pains.

What you should eat

1. Eat your veggies; The greener the better

Deeply coloured fruits and vegetables are a key part of an anti-inflammatory diet.

According to Doctor Perry, chief medical director and co-founder of Laser Spine Institute, olive oil, green tea, and brightly coloured fruits and vegetables have been shown to reduce inflammation in cartilage in the spinal column which helps to control back pain.

Try to look for foods that are loaded with nutrition.

Here are some of them:

1. Carrots

2. Beetroots

3. Sweet potatoes

4. Berries

5. Watermelon

Apart from fruits, there are other herbs and spices that are rich in anti-inflammatory agents.

6. Basil

7. Cinnamon

Cinnamon Powder

8. Ginger

Yellow Ginger

9. Garlic

10. Onions

Red Onions

These foods are good in fighting against back pains.

What you should not eat

Remember that inflammatory is a known cause for back pains?

Avoid eating nightshade vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplant, white potatoes, and peppers.

Although there has not been any research to support this, many people avoid these vegetables as a part of an anti-inflammatory diet.

If you are having regular back pains and are also taking in such vegetables, we suggest that you take in lesser of these vegetables.

Other foods to avoid include processed foods, fast foods, and saturated fats.

All these foods fuel inflammation which can cause your back pains to worsen. This also includes white bread, pasta, rice, sugary drinks, and fried foods. We understand that bread, rice, and pasta is a staple part of your daily diet. You do not have to cut them out completely. Just take lesser of these foods and eat more vegetables.

Keeping your back healthy can be as simple as that. For more ways to keep your back pain at bay, make sure you are getting enough of the right nutrients and back supplements for your back.
