Apart from following physical distancing and proper handwashing, we should also consider our mental health during the pandemic. We’ve written several articles about mental health in this blog, proving how much we value your holistic health.

In this article, we will share how to deal with this pandemic to maintain good mental health.

Choose your news source

While it is always essential to keep yourself updated with the latest news about the pandemic, it is not healthy if we are addicted to it. It will do you no good to read ALL information about coronavirus – as there are a lot of fake news!

In some of our articles, we’ve already mentioned the concept of infodemic. It’s the rapid spread of information, which proves to be fatal as well. People follow measures which are not medically approved, and these also create fear.

Mentally healthy people know when to read and believe the news. As always, choose your sources. Social media isn’t the right place to get information, so you might want to limit your exposure to it.

Acknowledge and accept your feelings

Perhaps, you are feeling anxious, or you have that fear of uncertainty. Such feelings are normal in these trying times. If you believe it is already affecting your everyday life, you can always reach out to professionals to deal with it properly.

Do not get pressured to do more

You have probably seen many posts and articles on how you can be productive during the pandemic. These are useful tips, and you can follow it if you want to. However, there is no need to stress yourself if you just want to relax, do practically nothing, and just rest.

Try to meditate

Most mentally strong people make sure to have time for meditation. According to studies, meditation can combat stress and anxiety. Try to do it every day. You can either use an app or follow instructions on YouTube. There are usually free yoga tutorials available. But you have to be careful. If you have specific health conditions, you might need to get approval from your physician to avoid certain yoga poses.

Stay away from the toxic crowd

The situation around the globe is already chaotic. We don’t need more negativities in our lives. Thus, it is better to stay away from pessimistic people. Or if you believe you can help people who are always thinking negatively, then do so.

Self – care comes first

But before you can help others, you must take care of yourself first. This can be achieved in different ways.

First, be mindful of the food you eat. We know it can be tempting to store junk food or to order pizza all the time. But let’s try to choose healthier options. Since we have a lot of time in our hands, you can prepare your meals. That way, you can select your ingredients. In addition, do not forget to exercise. If you are not allowed to go out, there are home exercises to follow over the internet. But for those who can enjoy a quick run or walk, then just practice proper social distancing.
