Having a shower for most people is just a daily routine to smell fresh and to keep the body clean. But did you know that a good bath can actually help people with anxiety? If you are one of them, this post is for you.

How can you get a good bath?

Surprisingly, some baths are better than the others. How can you make sure that yours will help you in having a good mood? Here are some of our tips.

Pick the perfect time to take a bath

If you want to relax, you have to choose a time wherein there are fewer distractions. If you have toddlers who run the whole day, then perhaps having a bath at night will do you good. Or if you have teens who go to school in the morning, then you can choose that time as well. Remember, you need peace and quiet.

Choose a good essential oil

Another way to improve your bath is by adding essential oil. Our personal favorite is lavender as it promotes relaxation. Others use rose and chamomile. Who says you can’t have your own spa at home?

But before you do this, make sure that you know how to properly add essential oils. It is not recommended to directly add it to your bathwater. Yes, some people do that but in reality, the process is wrong. What you need to do is to mix it with carrier oils such as coconut, sunflower, and olive oils. In addition, you might want to stay away from clove, cinnamon, and oregano oils for baths. And always remember to get your oils from a credible manufacturer to ensure quality.

Lastly, be careful when going out of the bath as it can get slippery after adding essential oil. You should also make it a habit to clean it using baking soda so that everyone will be safe.

Other bath products with essential oils

Good news because there are various bath products where they have already included essential oils. These can be good alternatives as well.

  • Shampoos
  • Conditioners
  • Liquid and bar soaps
  • Body washes
  • Bath bombs

Make sure that your water is just right

We recommend that you make your water hotter than your body temperature. You can start at 40C. But of course, don’t make it too hot or you might burn your skin.

However, please take note that hot baths on cold days are not good for people with heart problems. As always, consult your doctor in order to protect yourself.

You can always add epsom salts

If essential oils aren’t your thing, then you can add some epsom salts. This can definitely improve your mood as well. According to experts, these salts contain magnesium sulfate and is known to combat anxiety.

If you have more ideas on how you can improve your bath experience, feel free to share it with us. Having a relaxing time shouldn’t be expensive. You don’t have to visit and schedule an appointment at the expensive spa. You can do it right in your own bathroom.
