Apparently, with the lifestyle most people have, more individuals are now getting overweight or even obese. That said, you’d see a lot of weight-loss programs here and there. Some would even resort to crazy diet techniques. But you know what, there is a study which claims that regularly weighing can help you in managing your weight.

Can weighing every day help you with your weight-loss journey?

A study led by Jamie Cooper, PH.D asked 111 adults to participate. They are within the ages of 18 -65 years old. These participants were asked to visit the research team for three times. One was before the holidays, the second one was right after the holidays, and the last one was after 14 weeks.

These participants were asked to maintain their weight but did not provide any instructions on how to do it. What they need to do though is to weigh themselves every day.

Meanwhile, there is another group where they did not give any instruction at all.

What was the result?

After the study, it was found out that those who regularly weigh themselves either maintained or lost weight. The explanation here was that probably the participants were more conscious and cautious when they see their weight increase. Because of that, they try to control what they eat or work out. On the other hand, those who did not monitor their weight gained a few pounds.

What does this mean?

According to experts, this has got to do with self-perception. They say that when people see a difference from their current selves from their standards, they immediately change their behavior and habits. So if that’s the case, what we can do is to always monitor ourselves. Are we making progress? Or are we just letting things go on its own?

And since we are talking about losing weight, let us give you the most effective techniques that you can try.

Drink water before meals

If you want to boost your metabolism, it is recommended that you drink water before you eat your meals.

Bring healthy snacks wherever you go

Whenever you are going out, make sure that you have some healthy snacks with you. This is much better than going to a fast food restaurant for a sinful burger.

Drink green tea

Just so you know, green tea has been proven to help in maintaining or losing weight. Instead of having carbonated drinks, you might want to change your preference from now on.

Learn how to identify sugar from your daily foods

Educate yourself and see if your daily foods contain a lot of sugar. Look for other terms used for sweeteners and try to avoid those if you can.

Try to use smaller plates

Lastly, you can try to use smaller plates. This will force you to eat smaller portions unless you go back for multiple rounds, right?
