Over the years, people have been ‘addicted’ to come up with ideas on how to lose weight. But did you know that there are weird ones which will make you question the logic behind it? We are going to share some of these with you.
What are the weirdest diets to lose extra weight?
Drink as much as you want
In this diet, you are required to drink alcohol after every meal. It was so popular in the 60s that the person who introduced this method sold 2 million copies of his diet pamphlet.
Wash your fats with soap
Way back 1930s, some people think that special soaps can burn fats. If only losing weight is that easy, a lot of folks would be taking a bath multiple times a day. Back in 90s, similar products were sold on TV. But obviously, it has become a flop.
Let the tapeworm eat your extra pounds
You read that right. For some reason, other people believed that tapeworms can help them in their journey to lose weight. In fact, it was sold in a pill form! Can you just imagine that? But it proved to be a failure because tapeworms can cause a number of health problems such as dementia, seizures, and meningitis. It can even cause cysts on the spinal cord, eyes, and brain. All in the name of getting thinner? No. Never again!
Eat some cotton ball
We did say that this is a weird list, right? So yes, we are including a cotton ball diet where you are going to eat of course – cotton balls. Obviously, they contain zero calories.
Smoke it away
If you want to divert your hunger to something else, then smoke a cigarette. That’s what people believed in! What’s even weirder was that doctors are fine with it and they even prescribe this to their patients. So yes, they would rather have lung cancer than work out.
Stay away from swamps!
Did you know that in 1727, Thomas Short noticed that people who are heavier live near the swaps. And yes, he recommended living farther away from it if you want to lose weight.
Abstinence is the key
Back in the old days, some say that people who were fat were having too much sex. So staying away from it was the key to staying fit.
They say that color blue stops a person’s appetite. And that is why it was suggested to always wear blue glasses to combat the feeling of hunger.
Drink a lot of vinegar
This diet asked people to drink a lot of vinegar every day. You also have to add a cup of tea and a raw egg. With that combination, you are sure to vomit and have diarrhea.
Sleep. Sleep. Sleep.
Of course, you can’t eat while sleeping. And who popularized this method? Elvis! No wonder a lot of people followed this.
Most things in our list seem funny but it shows how far people can go to lose weight. But again, there are no shortcuts. Just choose the right food and be active to stay healthy and fit.
