Being a stay-at-home mom with toddlers running around while fun, can be exhausting, most especially if you don’t have help. However, that should not be an excuse for you to forget about your own health. Yes, it is tempting to just order from fast food to satisfy your hunger. Yes, it feels good to lie down after cooking, after doing the dishes, and after cleaning the house. But always remember that you have to squeeze time to workout, even if it is just for 30 minutes.
If you think this is impossible, we have few tips for you.
Workout tips for stay-at-home moms
Wear your workout clothes
If you wear your workout clothes at home, you are already setting your mood that you have to exercise. You can try running up and down the stairs while the kids are taking a nap. Or maybe practice yoga early in the morning. Or instead of driving your car to a nearby supermarket, you can just ride a bike or jog. Look for ways on how you can turn a daily routine into a workout session.
Include your kids when you workout
Who says you have to wait for your kids to go to school or to nap before you start working out? If you have a toddler, watch a zumba video. Your child will definitely enjoy watching and copying the moves. Or if you are going to use dumbells, make a lightweight one for your kid using socks. But the most effective exercise for stay-at-home- moms would be chasing the kids outdoors. It’s both playing and exercising rolled into one! This technique is not just good for your physical health, but it boosts the emotional and mental health of your child.
Use your couch to workout
And who says you have to buy expensive gym equipment to workout? If you have a decent-sized sofa, you can do a number of routines that will help you stay fit. We are suggesting 4 exercises for you to try out.
Sit down on the floor and your back to the couch. Put your hands on the couch and your thumb should point inwards. Try to go up and down.
Try to sit on the edge of the couch and lift your legs. This is a good exercise for your core. Now, move your legs as if you are riding a bicycle.
All you have to do is sit on the couch, stretch your legs, and try to reach it one at a time. Sounds simple? Try to do it!
Move two steps away from the back of your couch and lean forward. This should stretch your legs. Bend your arms and then push it back to its normal position. Repeat the steps.
Again, if you want to stay fit and healthy, do not make an excuse. Even if you are a stay-at-home mom and you have gazillion chores to finish, there are creative ways to exercise. We hope that our quick guide will help you.
