There are some (or many) mornings where we have to do everything in our power to get out of bed to grab a filling breakfast before we head to school or work. Some mornings, we just can not be bothered to make breakfast because we are running late for school or work and end up skipping breakfast altogether.

Eating breakfast does have its benefits. It can help us to lose weight and have healthier habits. Everyone should eat breakfast before starting their day as it also gives you the energy to work better.

In case you are always on the move and always rushing out of the house, here are 5 quick and easy breakfast ideas that you can make before starting your day.

1. Microwave eggs in a cup

This is a simple and quick breakfast that you can make every morning. The best part is, it only takes you 3 minutes to do.

This is what you need:

  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 Coffee mug of your choice
  • 2 Tbsp milk
  • 2 Tbsp shredded cheese (Optional for toppings)
  • Salt and pepper (For seasoning)

Directions:

  1. First coat your microwave safe coffee mug with cooking spray or butter. Use olive oil for a healthier option.
  2. Beat your eggs until it is blended together. Then, add it to the coffee mug.
  3. Microwave it on high settings for 45 secs. Take it out and stir. Microwave it for another 30 to 45 seconds.
  4. Top it with cheese (optional), and season with salt and pepper.

This breakfast can help to speed up your morning. You can even take it to go! Do take in mind that microwave ovens vary, and cooking time has to be adjusted.

2. Basic french toast

If you are craving something more filling, you can consider making this french toast that only takes 15 minutes to prepare.

This is what you need:

  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 20 ml milk
  • 2 slices bread (choose wholemeal bread for a healthier option)
  • A large pan

Directions:

  1. Beat the eggs and milk together until blended.
  2. Then, soak 1 slice of bread at a time in the egg mixture. Soak about 1 minute per side. Repeat for the second slice of bread.
  3. Heat up a large nonstick pan on high heat.
  4. Place the bread slices into the hot pan and lower the heat to medium. Cook both sides until golden brown with no visible liquid egg remaining, 2 to 3 minutes per side.

This breakfast idea is easier and faster than making pancakes. To add a little more flavour to it, cut some bananas and berries for toppings at the side.

3.  Oatmeal and banana cookie

This flourless banana cookie is a healthy and fruity option for breakfast. You would need about 20 minutes for this breakfast idea.

This is what you need:

  • 1 cup instant oatmeal
  • 1 large banana
  • An oven

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.
  2. Pour the oatmeal into a large bowl.
  3. Cut the banana into pieces and mash it together with the oatmeal. You can use your hands if you want to but remember to wash your hands.
  4. Take a baking tray and place a sheet aluminium foil over it. Coat the foil with olive oil or cooking spray.
  5. Put the mixture in the pan and shape it to a cookie-like shape. You can make many different pieces depending on the size of the cookie.
  6. Then put it into the oven and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes at 180 degrees.
  7. Once done, take out and serve.

This breakfast is healthy and keeps you full for the day. It also contains bananas which mean you will be energised for the day ahead of you. To make it tastier, you can add a side of berries such as blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries.

4.  Peanut butter, banana, and chia seed toast

Try this breakfast recipe with some superfoods in it, packed with vitamins and minerals. You will need 10 minutes to make this.

This is what you need:

  • 2 slices of bread (Wholemeal for a healthier option)
  • Peanut butter
  • 1 banana
  • 1tbsp of chia seed

Directions:

  1. Cut your banana into small slices.
  2. Then, toast your bread.
  3. Once toasted, spread peanut butter over your toast slices and add your banana slices on top.
  4. Sprinkle chia seeds on top and serve.

This breakfast is quick and easy. Plus it also has chia seeds in it which are considered to be a superfood. Pair it with a cup of tea.

5. Chia seed pudding

If you want to have something light and refreshing for breakfast, we recommend you to try this chia seed pudding. You can make this the night before and it will be ready for you to eat for breakfast the next morning.

This is what you need:

  • 1 cup milk (any milk of your choice)
  • 1/2 cup chia seed
  • 1/2 cup strawberries

Directions:

  1. Mix the milk and the chia seeds in a bowl.
  2. Cut the strawberries into pieces.
  3. Add it to the mixture.
  4. Leave it in the fridge overnight and take it out the next morning.
