Everyone knows that running is a great way to get into shape. It may not be everyone’s favourite form of exercise, but it can do wonders to your body.

Here is what running for 30 minutes can do to your body.

1. Burns fat

It is true that running helps us to burn fat, however, that only happens after you start running for about 15-30 minutes. When you run for 30 minutes, your body automatically kick starts the metabolism in your body that aids in the fat burning process. If you are doing interval running, your body will continue to burn fat right after you finish your run!

Also, running for 30 minutes will help you to burn a minimum of 200-500 calories. That is almost a packet of Khao Neeo Mamuang (mango sticky rice)!

2. Sleep better

According to a study, running for 150 minutes a week can help you to sleep better, which means a 30 minutes run, 5 times a week.

We may think that running can make us even more tired and exhausted. But it actually tires us out the healthy way. It is healthy fatigue.

It will help reset the sleep cycle by raising your body temperature which will drop a few hours later, triggering sleepiness. Research also shows that people who exercise in the morning sleep deeper at night.

3. Happier you

Running helps to reduce stress. This is because running triggers your endorphins levels, which is a chemical that triggers a positive feeling in the body. 

When you are happier, you will be in a better mood. Being in a better mood will make your day a whole lot better, and you will be a much happier person. When you are a happier person, you will smile more. Hey, a smile is the best thing you can wear right?

And if you are running in the evening, it also helps unload all those unhealthy stress after a long day at work.

4. Strengthens bone structure

When you run, you are actually putting your entire body load on the ground. This action puts a healthy stress on your skeletal system, boosting your bone mineral density (BMD). Higher BMD means stronger bones, thereby reducing the risk of osteoporosis, falls and fractures as you age.

5. Defines muscle

30 minutes of running is excellent at defining those muscles!

If you run for about 30 minutes a day and eat healthy food, the definition of your muscles will be visible. Your stomach will tighten, your quads will strengthen, and you will see your body changing rapidly.
